The Admission Decision
NYA offers candidates the option of applying for Early Decision or Regular Admission.
• Candidates applying for Early Decision must complete and submit their application materials by December 1. Admission decisions will be mailed to candidates on December 15th.
• Regular admission candidates must complete and submit their application materials by February 10. Admission decisions will be mailed to candidates on March 15th. Late applicants (after February 10th deadline) are encouraged to apply. Their applications will be considered as their files become complete.
• Financial Aid applications must be completed prior to the application deadlines in order to be considered concurrently. For more detailed information click here.
Early Decision
Applying for early decision to NYA indicates a strong interest in attending our school. Early acceptance guarantees your child a place in the grade to which they are applying. Candidates are considered based on the established admission criteria.
Early Acceptance
• Your child meets or exceeds the qualifications for acceptance to NYA.
• Upon acceptance the student’s family submits a $1,500 deposit to hold their position.
• Your family agrees to withdraw any applications for admission to other schools.
Early Decision Postponed to First Round
• A decision may be postponed if the Admission Committee determines that more information from the current year is required. Candidates must submit updated transcripts by February 10th.
• Their application will be considered along with all other candidates.
Regular Decision
Applying for regular decision indicates a strong interest in NYA. Candidates are considered based on the established admission criteria.
Acceptance
• Your child meets or exceeds the qualifications for acceptance to NYA.
• You must accept or decline the school’s offer on or before the date indicated in the acceptance letter.
• To enroll your child it is necessary to sign and return the contract along with a $1,500 deposit on or before that date.
Wait List
• Your child meets or exceeds the minimum qualifications to attend North Yarmouth Academy, but there are no places currently available.
• When an opening arises in a particular grade, the Admission Committee reconvenes to determine which candidate on the Wait List can best fill that position. The Wait List does not carry over from one application season to another. Wait List candidates are not prioritized.
Non-Acceptance
• Non-Acceptance indicates that, at this particular time, the Admission Committee has determined that North Yarmouth Academy is not the appropriate educational match for your child, or that there is not an opportunity for a position among the current applicant pool.
Late Admission
Applications for admission to NYA after our scheduled deadlines are encouraged. Decisions will be made upon completion and receipt of the application materials. Decisions will be based on the qualifications of the candidate and remaining openings in the grade to which the candidate is applying.
