Artist Bren Bataclan to Visit NYA
On Tuesday, December 14, artist Bren Bataclan will be at North Yarmouth Academy (NYA) to conduct a presentation and workshop. Bataclan is best known for his Smile Boston Project in which he leaves his cartoon-inspired paintings all over Boston for people to take for “free.” Each painting includes the notation: “This painting is yours if you promise to smile at random people more often.” He has gone worldwide with his Smile Boston Project and has painted murals and exhibited paintings nationwide. His first presentation and workshop will be from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. and is for fifth and sixth grades only. The second presentation is open to the public, free of charge, and takes place from 11:00 a.m. to noon in the Priscilla Savage Middle School Community Room (172 Main Street, Yarmouth).
Upper School Winter Concert
On Tuesday, December 14, beginning at 7:00 pm, everyone’s invited to the annual Upper School Winter Concert in the gym. This year’s theme – Brazilian music – promises to have you dancing into the holidays!
Middle School Evening with the Arts
An evening for Middle School parents and students to celebrate the arts and the holiday season is scheduled for this Thursday evening, December 9. An optional pizza buffet begins at 5:15pm (make reservations here), followed by an art show on display throughout the middle school. Everyone will meet in the gym by 6:25pm for a concert — all middle schoolers will perform!
NYA Students Earn WMC All-Academic Honors
Sixteen North Yarmouth Academy (NYA) students earned Western Maine Conference All-Academic Honors for the fall season. All-Academic student-athletes are seniors who have earned a 3.2 grade point average throughout their high school career, are members of a varsity team, and abide by NYA’s honor code and community standards. These students were nominated by NYA and selected by the Western Maine Conference:
