NYA uses a weighted 4.0 scale to calculate its honor rolls each trimester. Each Advanced Placement course carries an additional 0.3 points, as does an A+ in any course. Courses that carry less than one full credit (including but not limited to music offerings) are weighted accordingly.

Highest Honors: Requires a minimum average of 3.70 for the trimester, with no grade below an A-.
High Honors: Requires a minimum average of 3.30 for the trimester, with no grade below a B.
Honors: Requires a minimum average of 3.00 for the trimester, with only one grade below a B- and no grade below a C.
