In addition to the academic curriculum requirements, seniors must also complete a social service project and a senior speech.
Social Service: After the conclusion of senior exams in May, students begin a 40-hour internship as a way to give back to the community. Seniors work with a faculty advisor to secure an internship and must meet the demands to successfully complete the project including attending a panel discussion at the conclusion of the program.
Senior Speech: Seniors are required to present a speech to the North Yarmouth Academy community as a way to demonstrate public speaking skills. The presentation must meet the guidelines of the speech advisors. While students have a choice in the topic, their speech must be appropriate for the audience, including family, faculty, staff, and students.
