Suspensions

September 9, 2011

“In School” Suspension requires that a student report to school no later than 8:00 am and remain on campus until 4:00 pm (3:30 pm for Middle School). During this time, the student will be placed in a quiet area and will remain there at all times. She or he may not attend class or participate in any school activities (e.g. school period, drama rehearsals, athletics). The student will work on assignments and is responsible for all homework.

“At Home” Suspension means that a student is prohibited from attending school and any school activities (e.g. athletic contests, drama rehearsals) during the suspension period. Each student is responsible for all academic work assigned during suspension. He or she must present all of the work to the appropriate teachers upon return to school.

Suspensions and Loss of Privilege are consequences reserved for severe misconduct or for when the Dean of Students determines it is merited for other infractions. Some suspensions are served out of school; others are served on campus. All forms of suspension may be modified on a case-by-case basis at the discretion of the Dean of Students and the Head of School.
