North Yarmouth Academy (NYA) is holding its 28th annual charity auction on Saturday, May 5 in Travis Roy Arena, 497 US Route 1, Yarmouth. Proceeds from the auction benefit financial aid and enrichment programs at NYA. The auction committee, comprised of NYA parent volunteers, hopes to surpass $100,000 at this event. This year’s theme is “Cinco de Mayo.” Members of the public are encouraged to attend.
There will be over 400 silent auction items ranging from luxury overnight stays and fine art to jewelry, pottery and personal training sessions. Bidding online has begun, visit www.nya.org and click on the auction logo to view and bid on items. There will be a raffle for a $10,000 cash prize (raffle tickets on sale at the auction or in advance – call 846-2380 for more information). The winner does not have to be in attendance.
The highlight of the evening will be the live auction with auctioneer Charlie Crosby. A sample of items up for bid include:
- One week stay at an English cottage in Newbury, Berkshire, England
- Bruins, Celtics, Red Sox and Patriots Tickets
- Parking spot in the Dole House lot
- One week stay in a Northeast Harbor Cottage
- Yoga and breakfast with Charlotte Bacon
- Sebago Lake getaway at Migis Lodge
- Cocktail cruise on Casco Bay followed by Cousins Island lobster bake
Tickets for the auction are $30 in advance and $35 at the door and include dinner, entertainment by Steel Industry (the NYA steel drum band) and a cash bar. Advance tickets are suggested. Corporate Sponsorships are still available at various levels. Call 847-5423 for more information.
