Our panthers have taken great stride this past week in a tough stretch of the season. The Boys started of last weekend with a tough loss to a good Scarborough team, with a quick slip up in the third quarter the Red storm we able to pull away from us. Than a very impressive showing last Wednesday night with rival Yarmouth. The boys played with a lot of heart and pride putting four solid quarters together and never letting the clippers into the game. The Panthers showed there potential on that night and now know what they have to do to be successful. They also made history on that evening with the first ever win for our Panthers on that field. I am pretty certain that we will see them again but it depend on how the heal points fall. Than on Friday evening our true test would be seen with defending class B champions Cape Elizabeth. Even though the score didn’t reflect our game play, our Panthers played very well but were not able to capitalize on the many attempts they had. The end of the season push is upon us with no let up in the schedule our Panthers head to Wayneflete on Wednesday. Then a tough Falmouth team will come over on Friday and then York comes up on the first of June for our last regular season game. All three of these games will be a tough battles and teach us many lessons before the second should start. Thank you for all your support and hope to see all of you at Waynefleet next week.
Thanks

With a very rough game last Saturday night in a lose to Cape Elizabeth the Panthers came back to get a very much needed win against Freeport. The Panthers were already down due to the team sniffles that has been working it’s way around the team but with a couple injury’s to add, the Panther’s had a rough night down at Cape. They fought hard against Cape for four quarters with glimpses of hope but were really never able to get it going. Then going into yesterday’s game against Freeport the boys were still down and knew they had to put it together. With a all freshman defense in with Jackson Cohan-Smith, Forrest Chicoine and Wesley Bright and Weston Nolan in goal the Panthers were able to hold the falcons to 2 goals for three quarters a solid performance from all of them. Unfortunately with a quick breakdown in the fourth the Falcons were able to make it a interesting fourth quarter. Scoring 5 quick goals and bringing them within 3 goals the Panthers would finally settle down and hold on to the win. Some younger guys stepping up big time TJ Daigler had 4 goals and a assist and Jackson Cohan-Smith stepping up with some solid defense in the last 2 minutes of the game. Also putting up some points was senior captain Finn Hadlock with 3 goals and a assists. That was a very big confidence boast for our Panthers but are right back at it with Scarborough (defending class A champs) coming into town this Saturday at 2. The Panthers will also be playing Yarmouth and Cape next week so they will need to start playing there best lacrosse of the season. Thanks for all the support and hope to see you Saturday at 2.

The Panther boys lacrosse team have just experienced two extreme games in the last week. They went from a nice warm sunny day to a cold and windy night late night. Last Saturday the Panthers went up to Whales Maine, which is the home of the Oak Hill Raiders they boy brought there A game that day and played some very good lacrosse. They went on to win that day with ease and also start to work on there focus for the next couple of weeks. The Panthers than went on to play powerhouse Falmouth Tuesday night were it felt like we were back in March again. The Panthers learned some good lessons that night and never backed down. Although the score doesn’t give that game justice our boys played very well with many opportunity’s on the offensive side and frustrating the Yachtsmen on defense at times. Tim Millett was the only Panther to find the back of the cage that night with two goals and our Panther defense played very solid. Weston Nolan the new Panther goalie had a amazing night with 18 huge saves in the game keeping the fire going for the rest of the Panther’s to play hard all four quarters. The road doesn’t get any easier for our Panther’s with a game down at Cape Elizabeth this Saturday at 6:30 and next week against reigning state class A champions Scarborough which will be a battle. The Panthers have been raising there game play with every game and as soon as they can put it all together and put it on the field it will be a very impressive site. Thanks for all your support and hope to see all you Saturday night down at Cape. Thanks

NYA Boys lacrosse team had a serious gut check Wednesday afternoon against the Greely Rangers. It was a long hard fought battle with the score going back and fourth for all four quarters of the game. With neither team backing down and showing no signs of giving up it would take a extra ten minutes of overtime to decide this winner. The first quarter Greely toke control with a 3 to 1 jump on the Panthers but our boys regained there composure and answered the call and tied it up before the end of the first. The Panthers then went into half time with a goal advantage but Greely wouldn’t back down and scored three goals in the third quarter to take the lead going into the fourth quarter. With the back and fourth pace of the fourth quarter our Panthers toke the lead with about seven minutes to go in the game but Greely answered with two minutes left in the game. Than the gut check began with the up and down on the field it toke Ten minutes into overtime for our Panthers to find the back of the net. After a great save and the ball hitting the pipe on the goal the Panthers were able to transition the ball quickly down the field and Oliver Silverson found Matt Kibler standing on the crease for the goal. It was a great victory for our boys with some standout performances from Forrest Milburn with 4 goals, Jake Scammon 2 goals, TJ Daigler, Isaac Lipton and Tim Millet all getting a goal. With a great victory like this there has to be some standout play on the defense side of the field. Weston Nolan made 10 great save to keep the Panthers in the game and a standout performance by all my defensive player CJ Davis, Parker Howard, Charlie Gerrity, Nico Kaminow, Brett Galley and Isaac Lipton. They played very aggressive and were able to take the ball from Greely all over the field and hold them off for a great win. Our Panthers played well and look forward to getting back on the field this Saturday against Oak Hill. Thanks for all your support and look forward to seeing you all at the next game.

Well the first game is under our belt now with a very tough battle last Friday afternoon. The first half of the game Yarmouth controlled most of with one or two opportunity’s from our Panther offense. But our Panther defense played exceptionally well in the first half holding Yarmouth to only five goals most were giving up to man down play’s. The Panthers stepped it up in the second half with some good looks from our offense and the defense holding Yarmouth to one goal. The key to this game came down to the goalies for both teams who both played very well making very big saves throwout the game. It was a tough way to start the season for our Panthers but a good lesson for this young team. So for now with a little bite of time till the next game it is back to work for our Panthers to get ready for Greeley who will be coming to our field April 27th. Hope to see you all out there and Thank you for your support.

Our Panther lax boys team has raised the bar again with Portland coming up to our home field Tuesday afternoon. The Panthers came right out to play putting a very impressive three and a half quarters together before Portland could answer to the challenge. With some of the veteran Panthers sitting out due to some ailments from this weekend. A group of younger Panthers came to play Tuesday night impressing the coaching staff. But it was a full team effort that made this team look like it was in mid season form. From some very unselfish play from the offense, to the very patient defense who wait for the right opportunity before the would strike. The coaching staff is very pleased with how the Panthers have come together and can’t wait to see them go forward into the season. The true test will come this Friday afternoon when our neighbors come rolling in from across the street to kick the 2011 season off. Hope you all can make it out to the game should be a good one. Thanks for all your support

The Panthers lacrosse team had a great opportunity this weekend playing in the first ever Sudbury Cup. With 2 team coming down from Canada one from Montreal and the other from Nova Scotia. To start the morning off the boys played the Nova Scotia team which is a fairly new program. This was a good opportunity for everyone that made the trip to get some good playing time. The next game right after the first one was the Montreal team which gave us a great game. Back and forth in the first quarter and in the second Montreal gained a slight lead and controlled most of the quarter. In the third quarter our boys answered right back with the first couple of goals to make it a game. In the last quarter it was back and forth the whole way with Montreal taking a slight lead with minutes left. The Panthers got within a goal and almost tied it up with seconds left in the game but unfortunately were not able to pull it off. After a little lunch and rest it was time to take the field again with the last game being against Gould Academy. They fought hard against Gould but playing two full length games before it was pretty apparent our boys were fatigued. They never gave up and we had many younger players rise in this game. I am very proud of the outcome of this weekend with many good lessons learned. I am very excited to see the direction our Panthers are taking for this season. The Panthers takes the field this Friday afternoon against Yarmouth it should be a very good game. Thanks for all who made the trip up to Bethel this weekend
