Matt Kibler ‘11
(An imitation of “Narcissus, Photographer” by Erica Jong)
Climbing trees,
He surveyed his domain,
The fields and grass,
A rusted car.
He fancied himself
King of mice,
He
Observed his subjects
From his leafy perch.
One day,
His sight obstructed
By billowing clouds,
Zeus climbed higher,
Looking down,
From a swaying branch,
Until lightning cracked
Overhead.
Frightened,
Zeus tumbled
Landing in the meadow.
Looking from the tree,
As he lay in the grass,
indistinguishable from
A mouse.
