The Cookie Monster escapes
The confines of network television
Discarding the vegetables
Forced on him by executives.
His ridiculous googly eyes gleam
With a rebellious light
His blue fur streams
Behind him in his flight
He leaps upwards
Greedily reaching
For the top of the wall
He was not made for
Timidly eating fruits and eggplant,
As the specter of political correctness
Peers over his shoulder
He’s going to kidnap the Pillsbury Dough Boy
And ransom him for a million cookies.
